Recruitment kit
aims to lure
professionals
    SCHENECTADY — The Chamber of Schenectady County is creating a “Welcome to Schenectady” recruitment kit in collaboration with General Electric Co.
    According to chamber officials, the kits will help local human resource professionals entice hightech, white-collar professionals to take jobs in Schenectady and live here.
    The kit is being sponsored by GE, KeyBank, Ellis Hospital, National Grid and Sunmark FCU and will be distributed to more than 2,000 potential employees over the next 18 months.
    In October, GE Energy announced its intention to hire 500 new engineers to work for the conglomerate’s wind and solar energy businesses located on its Erie Boulevard campus. At the time, some public officials expressed skepticism that most of the engineers would choose to live in Schenectady because of its high property tax rate.
    Kits used to persuade them otherwise will include multimedia presentation formats such as a printed guide, DVD and Web site address containing information on housing, education, health care, arts and culture, relocation information and houses of worship, according to chamber officials.
    The advertising space reservation deadline for the kits is Aug. 8.

Well, they may come here to work...but they sure as heck won't live here. They will surely live outside of Schenectady. But it would be nice if they did decide to live in Schenectady, cause then they could help us pay for all of those multitude of government programs and those created, personal political jobs.

But if I were a betting man, I would bet that they may choose to work here, but will commute from Clifton Park, Loudonville or Glenville.

when they do move here and displace those who live in the city limits now, because the cost of living will rise higher......where does everyone think those folks who cant afford to live with in the city limits will move to???????
