Truckers & WROW Talkers Unite to Force Action on Gas Prices
Folks, WROW is about to be part of what promises to make national headlines as we join up with truckers and workin’ stiffs struggling with gas prices... we are going to shut down the New York State Government on June 19. The Capitol building will be ringed by an expected 400 big rigs, all leaning on their air horns at the same time, and nobody moves until the governor walks out the door and addresses our concerns.
Our convoy will assemble in Fultonville (the base will be at the Betty Beaver Truck Stop) Thursday June 19 and hit the road at 9:00 AM sharp. We expect to parade down State Street in Albany by 10:00 AM and encircle the Capitol Building. Join us at any point along the way in your own vehicle! Be heard! Be seen! Take back our state! Background: the state senate passed a gas tax “holiday” but assembly speaker Silver refuses to allow a vote in his house. Mark Williams listeners have been pelting his office with telephone calls and emails (and doing the same to other key assembly democrats). Mark has also been promoting assembly minority leader Jim Tedisco’s gas tax holiday petition, which some 40,000 people have already signed. The truckers have secured agreements from drivers nation-wide to completely boycott Manhattan Island if this doesn’t work.
BTW, this says they're leaving at 9AM. They have said that they will be starting to meet up at 7:30 or so, but I think I'll be there earlier.

CDTA buses to be rerouted for rally ALBANY — The Capital District Transportation Authority announced that buses will be rerouted Thursday in downtown Albany to accommodate a truckers’ rally at the state Capitol. The buses will be rerouted from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The following routes are affected: No. 1, Central Avenue; No. 2, West Albany; No. 4, Pine Hills; No. 5, Northern Boulevard; No. 9, Whitehall Road; No. 10, Western Avenue; No. 12, Washington Avenue; No. 13, New Scotland Avenue; No. 18, Delaware Avenue; No. 27, Corporate Woods; No. 29, Albany-Cohoes Route 7; No. 55, Albany-Schenectady via Route 5. CDTA supervisors will be stationed downtown to help customers with boarding. Anyone needing more information on the routes or other CDTA services is encouraged to contact CDTA’s Customer Information Center at 482-8822 or visit http://www. cdta.org.
