I would assume that at the time all of the members of the Rotterdam Republican party voted to sell the property and that all received an equal share of the proceeds?
Equal share??? Hardly. Judy Dagostino and family, actually returned or didn't cash checks that were sent in to the rep party for membership. This money came from long time contributors and members of the rep. party. Judy and family 'hand picked' WHO would remain members during the sale of the land. And of course they were ALL of Judy Dagostino's family and select friends. This was all pre-planned. They wanted to take ALL of the proceeds for themselves. PATHETIC!!

And that is the 'crooked' story of how Judy Dagostino got caught with her republican pants down. Her rep career was done...so off to the dems she went. And a prefect dem she is!!!!

Perhaps PDQ could fill us in on this one, huh?

So, bumble, you are suggesting that a select few members of the club determined who shared in the proceeds of the sale of property?  Were there any lawsuits filed as a result?

If memory serves, the members left in the Republican Club went to court and the Judge determined the proceeds had to be donated to charity.  I don't recall if there was a lawsuit or how/why they ended up in court.

It's funny, when folks organize, at the beginning the 'bread' is fresh....then as the organization ages it becomes 'stale bread' and we become like animals fighing for the crumbs........that is why term limits are good.....

Point taken Michael. However, Judy Dagostino will probably run again in 2009. So if we don't remember and learn from our past history, we will only repeat it. It may be repetitive but clearly worth remembering and repeating. We certainly can not forget the Little League baseball park negotiations that she and the other country legislatures, in secret, purchased, at too high of a price as well, with out ever contacting our very own town officials to get their input or the residents input.

Judy Dagostino(dem) is hell bent on NOT cooperating with the reps in Rotterdam. And that can only hurt the residents and future of Rotterdam.

Whose throwing mud now Bumble?  The Republican Club sale is old, very old news.  Judy Dagostino is a powerful voice for the people of Rotterdam, Duanesburg and Princetown. She has been much more effective as a Democrat than the Republican combiniation of Potter, DeGeorgio, and Surhada combined.  No offense but the political brains of that trio speaks for itself!

And Bumble you sure sound like a Republican operative by your keen "insight" into the dealings of the Republican Club sale that never was in the papers or these threads.  Typical for a bitter leader who can't find candidates because of his incendiary vitriol!  Your pathethic continued anti-democratic bashings will once again keep potential candidates out of your barn!  C'mon Surhada will not let the Reps run a viable candidate with him.  He knows he is in political trouble and won't let another Rep steal his bombastic, asisnine political grandstanding.  Maybe Holly Vellano will decide to run and knock Joe out.  She is one Republican who has dignity, honor and class.  Hey maybe she would consider changing over.  Hmmmmmmmm!!!!

Don't be a numbskull!! GO BACK AND READ THE FIRST POST TO THIS THREAD! The article was just ONE of many articles that hit the paper.

Okay, so now I'm Buchanan? Perhaps you should go back and read some of my previous posts on how I feel about Buchanan! I'm not even a Republican!!!!!!!!

I certainly hope you're not a cop cause you clearly need a refresher course on investigating skills!

PDQ, Who said Judy is a powerful voice for Duanesburg?  Either while a Republican or a Democrat?  The sale of the club property certainly was in the papers, it is the only way I knew anything about it.  Remember, I live west of Rotterdam and am not so much "in the know".   I met Holly Vellano a couple of times and she seems as though she would be a great candidate to represent Rotterdam, D'burg, and P'town.

She'd have to recuse her self so much it isn't funny.  Her husband likes the contracts he gets with municipalities.

Hey, Bumble.  You're moving up the ranks.  Before, you were Mertz, now you're Buchanan?  Who are you going to be next, George W. Bush?

Yup, I chuckled when I read that! I thought the same thing. First I'm Mertz and now I'm Buchanan!! I remember getting harassing PM from someone who really thought I was Mertz who had the initials of DMM on the old message board.

Poor PDQ is clearly a Political Democrat Quack!!

Lawmaker focus of planning fight
Republicans blame Democrat Dagostino in Wal-Mart dispute

By ANNE MILLER, Staff writer
First published: Wednesday, August 24, 2005

ROTTERDAM -- The debate over planning for the future of the town's Burdeck Street corridor has sparked a partisan dispute over a county legislator's efforts to block a Wal-Mart from being built.

Republicans and Democrats are clashing this election year over legislator Judith Dagostino, a Republican-turned-Democrat, making a rare foray into local planning debates. The GOP claims the Wal-Mart issue was all her fault in the first place.

The brouhaha began last week after a contentious Planning Commission meeting Aug. 16. At the meeting, the commission was asked to endorse one of two plans for the area in question, one compiled by residents, the other by two Town Board members. The commission chose the former, with some modifications, mainly asking for a bit of clarification. Their vote carries no legal weight; it is a recommendation for the Town Board vote next month.

One of the main differences between the two plans is zoning on the site of a proposed Wal-Mart. The residents' plan would not restrict the land as much as the Town Board members' plan, which would essentially prohibit the store from moving in.

On Aug. 17, Dagostino introduced a resolution against allowing a new Wal-Mart in town.

That's when the Republicans launched a battle cry.

Town GOP Chairman Tom Buchanan claims there wouldn't be a Wal-Mart to vote against if Dagostino, a former Republican party member, hadn't helped sell the land that the retailer wants to build on. The land formerly belonged to the Republican party and held Little League fields. The sale was the subject of an intra-party lawsuit over who would receive the proceeds.

Buchanan called Dagostino a sellout. The party blamed her for the sale, and demanded she have the land or $50,000 of the remaining proceeds returned. Only $5,000 was given to the local Little League, Buchanan said.

"Instead of pushing a resolution she knows will accomplish nothing, I call on Judy Dagostino and her allies in the old Republican Club to donate the rest of the funds to our Little League," Buchanan said.

"They're just manufacturing issues," said Dagostino, who added that she hasn't been a Republican for two years and that club directors voted on the land sale. Anne Miller can be reached at 454-5697 or by e-mail at amiller@timesunion.com.
