Mohawk Ambulance and Price Chopper will be hosting a food drive on Sunday, Dec. 20 at the Rotterdam and Westgate Price Chopper locations, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York in Latham.

Mohawk Ambulance hopes to fill two of their ambulances with donated food to help local families this holiday season. After the ambulances are filled, they will be driven to the food bank.

TOASTMASTERS
    ROTTERDAM — Mohawk Toastmasters will meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Rotterdam Senior Citizen’s Center at East Campbell and Hamburg streets.
    The meeting is open to the public, and anyone who is interested in improving their leadership and communication skills is invited to attend.
    The Toastmaster program is a crucial tool for employees to improve their communication skills. There is no cost to attend. For more information, call 864-5521 or 346-3631.

ANNUAL MEETING
    ROTTERDAM — The Rotterdam Business Association will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mallozzi’s Restaurant, 1930 Curry Road.
    Thomas Culbert, a lieutenant with the Rotterdam Police Department, will speak.
    Dinner cost is $25 for members and $40 for non-members. Reservations may be made by email at vbeyer@cdphp.com or by calling 641-5145.

CHICKEN AND BISCUITS
    ROTTERDAM — A chicken  and biscuit dinner will be held from 2 to 6 pm at the Hilderbrand Davis VFW  Post 1895, 609 Draper Ave.  on Saturday, Feb. 13.  The cost is adults $8, seniors $7 and children under 12 $6.

FREE RABIES SHOTS
    ROTTERDAM — The Schenectady County Public Health Services will offer the following rabies vaccination clinics.
    Rotterdam: Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Rotterdam Senior Citizens Center, 2639 Hamburg St.
Cats and ferrets will be seen from 10 to 11 a.m. and dogs from 11 to noon. The clinics are free to Schenectady County residents. Bring previous rabies vaccination certificate. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers and dogs must be leashed. Cash donations are welcome.

ROTTERDAM FIRE OFFICERS
    ROTTERDAM — The Board of Fire Commissioners of the towns of Rotterdam, Princetown and Guilderland appointed Ray Fagel as chairman of the board for 2010. Charles Duffy as vice chairman; Catherine Grimm, secretary treasurer.
    The commissioners approved the following firematic officers for 2010. Wes Blessing, chief; Richard Smith, 1st assistant chief; Steve Doherty 2nd assistant chief; Herb LeTarte IV, captain; and Angelo Rossi, lieutenant.
    The board voted to meet at 10 a.m. at the firehouse on the first Sunday of each month.

SCHONOWE DINNER
    R O T T E R D A M — T h e Schonowe Volunteer Fire Company, Rotterdam District 7, will host its annual ham and corned beef and cabbage dinner from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at its fire station, 112 Gordon Road.
    Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8.50 for adults and $4.50 for children. Free for kids under 12.

VFW BENEFIT
    ROTTERDAM — VFW Post 1895, 609 Draper Ave., will hold a benefit for the March of Dimes from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday . A spaghetti dinner will be served.

KIDS TO PERFORM
    ROTTERDAM — The Schenectady Theater for Children willl perform “The Mermaid of Edam” at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Rotterdam Square mall, next to Macy’s.

SCHALMONT BUSES
    ROTTERDAM — The deadline for placing special transportation requests with Schalmont Central School District is fast approaching.
    For the 2010 - 2011 school year, the Schalmont Transportation Department must be notified of all requests for student transport to private and parochial schools by April 1.
    Requests for transportation to a baby-sitter or daycare must be submitted no later than June 30.
