Let’s act as if we cared as much about U.S. citizens as we do illegal aliens

   Maybe it’s time we started taking care of our legal citizens before we start worrying about making outsiders feel comfortable or welcome.
   I don’t really care how foreigners feel about me flying the Stars and Stripes, or if they can understand the instructions on the new snowblower they just acquired. Having been born in this country, working my entire life and always having to abide by the rules, I find it very insulting that Gov. [Eliot] Spitzer wanted to give illegal aliens driver’s licenses. Why not help us legal residents make it before giving these outlaws a break?
   An illegal alien is already breaking the law just by being here in our country. Doesn’t that mean anything to the people we have elected to run our government? Maybe the governor should look into why it is costing me $50 for 15 gallons of gas so I can go to work; or why home heating fuel is costing almost $4 per gallon. When is it going to end?
   We can bring people in from other countries, set them up in business, given them financial aid and tax breaks — and the average citizen is struck footing the bill. I really don’t believe an American would get the same treatment in other countries.
   Also, if our legal residents can work, they should work; and we should end the third and forth generation welfare recipients. To earn their benefits, they should have to pass a drug test each month to get the aid.
   I may not be politically correct, but I do still have the Constitution on my side, and will do whatever I have to do to protect it from people who should not even be in this country.
