I'll do my best.  Maybe some of you would like to step up and ask to be appointed to this committee with me?
No thank you. We have bigger fish to fry!

we cannot compare Rotterdam to Guilderland or Nisky....more like Scotia village.....

BTW have you heard anything?

Rotterdam's population is just over 20,000, Niskayuna is 5000+, Guilderland is 30,000+, and Scotia is slightly over 8000.  Rotterdam resembles Guilderland the closest, in terms of population.  That's the problem, residents think Rotterdam is a rinky dink town.  Rotterdam is the 1st or 2nd biggest town in the county.  Glenville might have more residents than Rotterdam.

The 2000 census shows Rotterdam with 28,316 people which is getting pretty close to Guilderlands population.

Guilderland did do it right. But they pay for it in their taxes too. Why is it that none of use live in Guilderland? Cause the taxes are too high for us. We all say that we are willing to pay higher taxes IF we received something in return for them. But we could all move to Guilderland  tomorrow and pay those higher taxes in return for better services. But we don't!

I am paying higher taxes----NOW SHOW ME THE $ TRAIL.....we reap what we sow....I have sown my $$ and so has everyone else.....if someone owns a bigger home and pays higher taxes that is their choice...as for the government using all of our collected taxes--IT HAS TO BE EQUAL ACROSS THE BOARD, not just certain neighborhoods....

No, it means if you choose to live in Rotterdam and pay Rotterdam taxes it is for everyone....I'm all for getting rid of most of the taxes and decreasing services....but as for sewers lights sidewalks and things of the transportation/sanitation need, that is EVERYONE'S responsibility.....it is not my tax dollars that should go to a baseball field, football field or the like.....if things like that are wanted then those folks get to raise the capital WITHOUT the government.....

Guilderland's overall tax rate is actually lower than Rotterdam's.  According to 2006 statistics, Rotterdam is between $29.65-39.94 per $1000 assessed, combining school, county, and town taxes.  Guilderland is $21.85-25.04 per $1000 assessed combining the same three tax levy's.  The reason I can't afford to live there, is because the town is well planned and run so efficiently, that it drives up the demand to live there.  In turn driving up the values of the homes. If my home in Rotterdam on the acreage that it's on, were located in a neighborhood in Guilderland, it would be worth $50,000 more.

That's a very  good point Cicero, so assuming that we pay as much in taxes as Guilderland does where are our services like sewers, neighborhood improvement, businesses wanting to move to Rotterdam, and an overall improvement in our infrastructure?

Rotterdam will hire an outside firm to study those issues you raise.  If there is any money left over after the studies are completed, maybe there will be action.

Rotterdam appears to have a small town mentality that they just can't shake. From the top all the way  down to it's residents. Guilderland on the other hand set their bar higher. They went for the gusto!
And they also were not dependent on GE for it's tax base like Rotterdam.
