ROTTERDAM — Town officials are seeking public commment on ways to spruce up the Broadway entrance to Rotterdam.
With an engineering study under way, they’re now hoping residents will turn out at the Bellvue Reformed Church Thursday to discuss the project. Representatives from the firm Barton & Loguidice will host a workshop at 6 p.m. to discuss future improvements for the area and are encouraging residents from both Rotterdam and Schenectady’s Bellevue neighborhood to attend.
“We’re looking to bring back the Main Street look to our community,” said Rotterdam Supervisor Steve Tommasone.
Town Board members hired the company in June to conduct a study to transform the gateway on Broadway between Rotterdam and the city. The study is expected to cost about $4,000.

The Town Board should concentrate on one project at a time and when one is complete then start another project. It's like the old saying too many irons in the fire. Rotterdam has a lot of things on their plate right now Masullo Estates, Horizon Estates, Hamburg Street, and they should be planning to add and repair the infrastructure in this town.

I believe that the metroplex is involved both on Hamburg Street and Broadway. So in my opinion, if we can receive some of our tax dollar back into Rotterdam through metroplex, than start as many projects as necessary. Ya know...'get it while the gettin's good'.

And that would also, to combine both of these, be making sure that we "strike while the iron is hot."

Shadow, maybe somebody needs to light a fire under some of these "old" issues, but if the pit that holds the ashes is firing up and ready to spew like a volcano, we should catch as much of the lava as we can.

(And I know that this will confuse some, so I'll just say, Let's get what we can, when we can.)

I do agree that we should get all we can get as soon as we can get it from Metroplex as you never know when the funds will be shut off. It just seems that the older issues have been forgotten.

I can say that Broadway has become the "Hood way".....and Hamburg St will soon follow....these are our borders...we either do something about it, raise the bar or be eaten alive into the never never land of drugs, gangs, shootings, integrity challenge, etc.......it's just another way to 'feel secure' just like the 2000' sex offender law.....

....we are only as safe as we care to show we are.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I agree shadow. But there are political forces outside of Rotterdam that pull our purse strings. Rotterdam has just so much in monetary resourses. So we have to take back some of our taxed dollars the best way we can. And that will be when the outside sources deem it necessary. So we must continue to play politics to get what we want. Our county legislatures control most of our purse strings right now, and you know how that's going? They will wrongfully increase our taxes by approximately 5%, which is rediculous. Those people should be voted out on their a**. But in the meantime...lets take back as much of our taxed dollar as we can and whenever we can.
