Gazette named best N.Y. paper in its class

The Daily Gazette has been honored as the best newspaper in the state in its circulation category by the New York State Associated Press Association.
The Newspaper of Distinction award, announced Wednesday at the association’s annual awards dinner in Syracuse, recognizes the entire newspaper. The Gazette competes in the 25,000-50,000 circulation category.
Judges praised the Gazette as “a newspaper that respects and serves its readers” and noted the paper’s December 2006 series on poverty demonstrated ambition and enterprise. “The Daily Gazette stood out for its uncluttered design, good use of pictures, clean lines and labeling,” they said.
In separate circulation categories, The Citizen of Auburn, the Post-Standard of Syracuse and the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester were also honored Wednesday as Newspapers of Distinction.
Gazette staffers also won 11 awards in the association’s 2006-07 annual writing contest, include first-place honors in the categories of Spot News, Business/Finance, Continuing Coverage and Arts/Entertainment Writing.

Yes the Gazette is half classed and certainly deserves an award for it.

The Gazette also has high absorption properties which renders it ideal for lining litter boxes and bird cages.

Funny you should say that, cause you can wrap kids birthday presents with the comic sections too.

Just be careful of Sundays, they might import the colors for the comics from China...
