I thought that I would pass this information along, especially to the "girls" on the board.
My mom had a heart attack right in front of me and I didn't know it. She felt sick to her stomach and had a pain under her "lower" left rib. We thought it could be the bug. That was Thursday night. Friday morning, she was still feeling a little sick to her stomach, so I took her to the doctors. He had me take her for blood work and xrays. By Saturday morning she was back to her old self. The doctor called about 11am that morning and said that she had to go to the emergency room since her blood work showed that she may have had a heart attack. Well, she did.
The doctors explained that women sometimes do not have the typical symptoms when they have a heart attack. They don't always get that crushing feeling in their chest or pain down their arms. That is why they call it the silent killer of women.
And she did come home yesterday. They won't really do anything more for her due to her age. She is 82. So she is taking medication to hopefully prevent her from having another.
