Don't give politicians access to spy satellites First published: Wednesday, August 22, 2007
President Bush has acted to permit U.S. law enforcement agencies to use the government's spy satellites within the United States.
One hopes that politicians like Gov. Eliot Spitzer will not order the State Police to use those satellites for improper and unethical domestic surveillance of his political opponents, as his administration has demonstrated a willingness to abuse the State Police for political purposes.
One also hopes that politicians like former co-president Hillary Rodham Clinton will not order the FBI to improperly and unethically use those satellites for domestic surveillance of her political opponents; given the fact that, as co-presidents, she and Bill Clinton improperly and unethically had the FBI files of hundreds of political opponents delivered to the White House for political purposes.
Leaders, like President Bush, will not abuse the spy satellites; but politicians, like Spitzer and Clinton, are likely to do so. Therein lies the danger of allowing U.S. spy satellites to be used within the United States.

There is a time and a place for these spy satellites. My worry is if this technology gets into the wrong hands what could happen. The invasion of people's privacy should always be a major concern to everyone.
The invasion has already begun.....it is just rolling along picking up steam....as long as our pockets are comfortably lined(it is different comfort level for everyone) or we are kept too busy trying to eat....it goes unnoticed....
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
In this day and age of technology....this was bound to happen. We clearly can't stop it now. We can only hope for the best.

I use to think that way also shadow. I am now becoming to realize that the more freedoms we have, more are taken away and more surveillance is used. Perhaps not all needed. But if you just look back over the last half century, you will find there are many freedoms that have been taken away from us.
Of course, during the 60's revolution, there were all kinds of new found freedoms. Only which to come back and bite us in the butt. There is no return now. It appears that we have become a society out of control. A society that 'appears' to need stricker laws, and restrictive freedoms. A time when terrorism is actually 'home grown'. And it also appears that it is a society that needs satellite surveilance to keep order.
Well....so that is what we are told by our government!!!!!

Unfortunately the world we live in today is filled with a number or terrorists both domestic and foreign so the government has no way of knowing who the good guys are without doing some checking on everyone. I despise the fact that we've lost a good number of our freedoms and I blame the far left wing nuts for creating panic about everything that happens in this country. People drive too fast and we got the seat belt and helmet laws. It didn't do any good so now we have road rage laws and people still drive like lunatics. The government can pass all the laws they want and as I've stated many times "there's no cure for stupid".
