Exclusives and scoops are one thing. But when a media outlet, that is supposed to just 'report the news', backs a candidate in an election or spins a story to elevate one candidate and downturn another is not acceptable. Well I guess the dems control most media outlets, and the reps control talk radio.

The fact that the TU is a liberal, pro-Democratic paper is hardly news. Gov. Spitzer purposely sent phony State police reports about Sen. Bruno to the TU knowing that they would not verify the facts. One of the dates of the so-called chopper trips was Easter Sunday when Sen. Bruno was home.
The People's Gazette does not endorse candidates on the editorial pages preferring to mix them into so-called news stories. Yes the TU endorsed Lumpy Kosiur, if the People's Gazette endorsed candidates it would have too. Both editorial boards were shocked when George Amedore won in a landslide. This was not a shock to anyone who followed these campaigns.
The dems clearly should be kissing the feet of both the TU and the Gazette. Cause if it weren't for these liberal medial outlets, the dems wouldn't be as far as they are today!

Vote today Because only local offices are on the ballot today, this is considered an "off year" election. But in truth, all politics is local, as the late Speaker of the House Tip O'Neil used to say. The people who are elected today will have a great say in the future of our local communities and courts. Don't waste your chance to decide who sits in city and town hall, or who serves on the city or town council, or county legislature, or who runs the district attorney's office. Vote.
As is our custom, here is a recap of our recent endorsements: Ballot Proposal: It would add 11 acres to the Adirondack Forest Preserve in exchange for approving wells dug in 1 acre to provide drinking water to the hamlet of Raquette Lake. Vote yes. Albany County Executive: Mike Breslin, Democrat Rensselaer County District Attorney: Greg Cholakis, Republican Schenectady Mayor: Brian Stratton, Democrat Troy Mayor: James Conroy, Democrat Saratoga Springs Mayor: Valerie Keehn, Democrat Colonie Supervisor: Paula Mahan, Democrat Bethlehem Supervisor: Jack Cunningham, Democrat
Congratulations, Times Union editorial staff. I didn’t think it was possible, but you have actually positioned yourselves to the left of The New York Times.
Your Jan. 27 endorsement of Hillary Clinton over the other two “fine Democratic candidates,” while claiming that not one Republican candidate is worthy of the presidency is typical of how truly biased your newspaper has become.
Even the Times had the decency of endorsing John McCain, as well as Clinton.
But it’s what I have come to expect from you. Ninety percent of your guest columnists are liberal. Your newspaper is just another example of how far left much of the news media has become. You’re right up there with the worst of them.
The editors control which stories get run and where in the paper they are placed. It is easy to see which way the paper sways, they all sway one way or the other, just open up the opinion section and read.

Why keep pretending that the news is impartial? Whats the big deal ?
The Pensylvania Gazette - you know the paper Benjamin Franklin and his brother started- had a tendency to be liberal in its viewpoints, and, in 1722,his brother James was imprisoned for a month for an article that was considered highly offensive.
(Perhaps this had to do with Franklin’s later influence regarding the inclusion of the Constitutional amendment affording freedom of speech to North America citizens).
I don't think that the media should be in the business of politics. Just report the facts and let me decide for myself. With the increase in government control, it will be even easier for the media to lend a hand to lead the 'sheeple' in the direction these outlets choose to report. The media just helps feed the beast! And the 'sheeple' buy it!

I agree also. We are lucky the Times Union is not in the " business of politics ". An occasional opinion which is different from yours does not mean they are .
