WASHINGTON - Looking pretty is costing John Edwards' presidential campaign a lot of pennies. The Democrat's campaign committee picked up the tab for two haircuts at $400 each by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva of Beverly Hills, Calif., according to a financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

FEC records show Edwards also availed himself of $250 in services from a trendy salon and spa in Dubuque, Iowa, and $225 in services from the Pink Sapphire in Manchester, N.H., which is described on its Web site as "a unique boutique for the mind, body and face" that caters mostly to women.

A spokeswoman for Edwards' campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

And they are worried about doctors charging too much? There should be HMO's for hair stylists! That's a bit out of control. And Mr. Edwards should have had more common sense than that. Shame on  him.

But in his speeches he says that he feels for the poor in this country like he ever had to experience hard times. All the politicians who were born into money can't even begin to know what it's like to live from paycheck to paycheck and to do without.

That is what is so unfortunate here. Only the rich people can even afford to run for an office and pay for their campaign. The average paycheck to paycheck person could never do that. And there are many average folks that I know that would represent the people better than the ones we have now.

And you know what?  I bet that he turns around saying "Well, I don't HAVE to pay that much for a haircut, but I want to give back to the littl people."

All the while, the person that's fixing his hair, a true Republican (whether they vote that way or not, but showing the truth of the "free market" and "upply and demand") states clearly (with her charges), I'm not going even close to that mop for any less than 10 times what I charge anybody else.

I find it somewhat humorous that they have all resorted to YouTube. They are just showing the people how cool and hip they are!

Yup...that's a good reason to vote for them, dont cha think?

Well, here's how I look at it.  You have to look at the parties.  I think they picked their icons appropriately.

Republicans - The Elephant - They go to their job and remember (for the most part) who they're there serving and what they were sent there to do.

Democrats - The Donkey - I guess they're just donkies.
