Since Obamacare’s Passage, Millions Have Lost Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance
4:42 PM, Nov 11, 2011 • By JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Single Page Print Larger Text Smaller Text Alerts

Throughout the Obamacare debate, President Obama repeatedly promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” Now, Gallup reports that from the first quarter of 2010 (when Obama signed Obamacare into law) to the third quarter of this year, 2 percent of American adults lost their employer sponsored health insurance. In other words, about 4.5 million Americans lost their employer-sponsored insurance over a span of just 18 months.

This is not what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) had predicted would happen. Rather, the CBO had predicted that Obamacare would increase the number of people with employer-sponsored insurance by now.  It had predicted that, under Obamacare, 6 million more Americans would have employer-sponsored insurance in 2011 than in 2010 (see table 4, which shows the CBO’s projected increase of 3 million under (pre-Obamacare) current law and an additional 3 million under Obamacare). So the CBO’s rosy projections for Obamacare (and even these paint a frightening picture) are already proving false.

Whether the decline in employer-sponsored insurance over the past 18 months is a product of Obamacare or of the Obama economy — and whether Obamacare is the principal cause of the anemic performance of the Obama economy — can be debated. But what’s clear is that, more than 25 months before Obamacare would really go into effect — if it’s not repealed first — employers are already dropping employees from their insurance rolls.

Take Walmart, for example — a prominent Obamacare supporter. Gallup writes,

“The nation's largest private employer, Wal-Mart, announced in October that new part-time employees who work less than an average of 24 hours a week would no longer be able to get their health insurance from the company. Wal-Mart laid out several other cuts to its health insurance offerings, including some workers’ ability get coverage for their spouses. Other companies have already made and will likely continue to make similar changes to their health insurance benefits….

“If Wal-Mart's decision is a precursor of how employers intend to manage their healthcare costs, the downward trend in employer-based healthcare will likely continue.”

So in addition to costing about $2.5 trillion over its real first decade (2014 to 2023), looting nearly $1 trillion from Medicare over that time (according to the CBO), forcing Americans to buy government-approved health insurance under penalty of law, and amassing unprecedented power and money in Washington at the expense of Americans’ liberty — if Obamacare stays on the books, you may like your health care plan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can keep your health care plan.

speaking to MD's everyday.....the market for the good bedside MD disappeared in the 80's when everyone began to seek out specialists because "I deserve cutting edge stuff, my general MD doesn't know anything" yup these would be the
same folks that Dennis Hopper speaks to.....however, the medical profession also has themselves to blame for selling snake-oil and removing folks ability and right to make stupid choices as we all do.....case in point: Michael Jackson

when you seek 'cutting edge' (you think it is) you pay for their liability insurance too.....along with the dividends that drop into your 401k via that insuring agency that your broker has invested some
of your $$ in......

Supreme Court to Rule on ObamaCare

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a challenge to President Obama's health care reform law.
It's likely the oral arguments will begin in February or March, and a ruling is expected by June.

Public Authority
one of the most important characteristics of a state. The Marxist-Leninist theory of the state considers public authority to be a specific variation of social compulsory authority, one that arose after society split into antagonistic classes. Public authority supplanted social authority, which was characteristic of the primitive clan-tribal system and served the interests of the entire society, whether it was a clan, tribe, or alliance of tribes.

Public authority is the political authority of the ruling class regardless of the particular state forms in which authority is organized and exercised. The chief functions of public authority are to subordinate—which includes suppressing the opposition of other classes—and to organize and control society according to the economic, political, and nonmaterial interests of this class. In class antagonistic society, public authority is in essence the dictatorship of the ruling class, a means of exploitation of the working people. The apparatus of public authority consists of armed forces, intelligence, governmental agencies, the diplomatic service, and the like. In exploiter states, public authority is alienated from society in political and organizational terms and is maintained at the expense of the working people. Taxes and loans are the material foundation and the hallmark of public authority.

In a socialist state, public authority serves the interests of the people, expresses the people’s will, and is linked to the people by numerous democratic forms that are refined as socialism develops.

I'm hearing that if you choose not to go with a recommended treatment your insurance company can label you "noncompliant" and void your coverage.
People don't seem to realize that insurance companies provide no health care. They are an unnecessary added on expense.
I read something recently where a woman was bemoaning the fact that she had no insurance so she could not treat her high blood pressure. The cheapest insurance I've seen still costs $15.00 per week and you can visit a doctor at one of those walk in places for as little as $75.00 for a first visit. Some medicines can be had for $10.00 for a thirty day supply. People forget that you pay for health insurance whether you go to the doctor or not, and you don't need to see the doctor every month for something like high blood pressure. If you can afford health insurance, you can afford an out-of-pocket doctor visit. I'm not talking about people with chronic serious illness here, just addressing the issue that people seem to believe that having to pay a doctorkeeps you away from routine health care, forgetting that health insurance is not free either.

If you have no health care insurance, and are not wealthy, when you do become very sick or are in a serious accident...
THE REST OF US WILL PAY FOR YOUR HEALTH CARE.
Hospitals can refuse to treat you if your condition is not life threatening, but if it is a serous illness or accident, they are
forced to treat you, and bill the rest of us for your care, who also pay our own health care insurance.

folks need to know how to take care of themselves......there is no such there as preventative MEDICINE....there is lifestyle/choices.......
I say take the middleman out whether that be insurance/private/government.....

when did we all become weak? our great grandparents and grandparents didn't have insurance....they still had docs....and it wasn't fashionable to hang out at the doctors...just like it wasn't
fashionable to accept government $$.....

where/when did we fall off that wagon?

help me....was the troll under the bridge calling for us to get off the high ground?

That still didn't address my point:

on an as needed basis.....right now the system propells folks to go for 'check ups'....preventative medicine.....we all pay for that too....the answer is to pay as you go....remove the middleman..
ie:private insurance or government insurance

we have been brainwashed into this 'insurance' need.....the insurance needed is for accidents/trauma.....anything else is up to each individual....it's up to you to pay for prenatal care for yourself
if you choose to be pregnant, it's up to me to regulate my blood sugars based on my life style and pay as I go for supplies....the ONLY reason things cost as much as they do is because
insurance in and of itself (regulated by government) is like the Alaskan pipeline or a fishtank when you buy real plants then all those snails multiply and hang on....anyhow, my 401k, the government
pensions, mortgage insurers etc are all tied up in the insurance companies,,,they are 'guaranteed income' if you 'fear' the people enough....their bottom line IS dividends....

the government stepping in will do NOTHING to curb the level at which we are at....the government wont remove the 'income' generated by 'fear investing'.......national healthcare doesn't equalize
everyone to a higher level....it shaves it down and removes choice in access....it's a lie.....

the wealthy will always have access----NO MATTER WHAT...whether they be for good/bad outcomes...ie: michael jackson and all of narcistic hollywood morons....you'd think michael moore would have
a giant gym in his mansions.....oh no...he's the poor fat dude pointing fingers...he has access that he feels guilty having..."I'm fat but I can pay someone to pump my chest"....

as for the definition of wealth....that is subjective....folks I work with think I'm wealthy...hahahahahahaha....that's a joke

According to a new CNN/Opinion Research poll, 52% of Americans favor mandatory health insurance
That number is up from 44% in June.
47% oppose health insurance mandate, down from 54% in June.

"Since the mandate is the core of health reform, this basically means that proponents are slowly winning the argument. If we
make it to actual full implementation, this reform will be irreversible."
(Paul Krugman, NY Times)
