How do you know when he's not telling the truth, true to the politicians code his lips are moving and the man has proved it many times in the first year in office. He's a one term president but while in office he will jam as many liberal programs as he can down our throats, hope and change my a**.
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama urged Congress Wednesday to vote "up or down" on sweeping health care legislation in the next few weeks, endorsing a plan that denies Senate Republicans the right to kill the bill by stalling with a filibuster.
"I don't see how another year of negotiations would help. Moreover, the insurance companies aren't starting over," Obama said, rejecting Republican calls to begin anew on an effort to remake the health care system.
The president made his appeal as Democratic leaders in Congress surveyed their rank and file for the votes needed to pass legislation by majority vote—invoking rules that deny Senate Republicans the right to block it through endless stalling debate. Obama specifically endorsed that approach
GOP leaders were unmoved, despite Obama's declaration that he had incorporated a few of their proposals into his revised legislation.
The Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, said a decision by Democrats to invoke rules that bar filibusters would be "met with outrage" by the public, and he said Obama was pushing a sweeping bill that voters don't want.
"They've had enough of this yearlong effort to get a win for the Democratic Party at any price to the American people," McConnell said on the Senate floor.
Obama Now Selling Judgeships for Health Care Votes? Obama names brother of undecided House Dem to Appeals Court. BY John McCormack March 3, 2010 6:15 PM
Tonight, Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he's obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
“Scott Matheson is a distinguished candidate for the Tenth Circuit court,” President Obama said. “Both his legal and academic credentials are impressive and his commitment to judicial integrity is unwavering. I am honored to nominate this lifelong Utahn to the federal bench.”
Scott M. Matheson, Jr.: Nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit
Scott M. Matheson currently holds the Hugh B. Brown Presidential Endowed Chair at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1985. He served as Dean of the Law School from 1998 to 2006. He also taught First Amendment Law at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government from 1989 to 1990.
While on public service leave from the University of Utah from 1993 to 1997, Matheson served as United States Attorney for the District of Utah. In 2007, he was appointed by Governor Jon Huntsman to chair the Utah Mine Safety Commission. He also worked as a Deputy County Attorney for Salt Lake County from 1988 to 1989. Prior to joining the University faculty, Matheson was an associate attorney from 1981 to 1985 at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C.
Matheson was born and raised in Utah and is a sixth generation Utahn. He received an A.B. from Stanford University in 1975, an M.A. from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1980.
So, Scott Matheson appears to have the credentials to be a judge, but was his nomination used to buy off his brother's vote?
Obama gave a speech today at 1:45. He gave his health care plan. It is watered down quite a bit, but is clearly not worth $100B/year! He also gave no specifics. It was more like a 'wish list'. He never said 'how' he planned to implement this so called reform. If they (the dems) pass even one part of the health care reform, it will be one too much. And that will be the final nail in the dems coffin.
And of course he wants to cap the profits on private insurance companies while dictating to them what they can and can not do!
All they have to do is pass torte reform. Put a cap of $250K on any medical law suits. Open the state boarders and make insurance more competitive. This would cost the taxpayers ZERO!!!

here's the deal....those insurance company profits ring right into pensions/401ks etc......and they are twisted around in the banks....derivatives are a gamble.... once the government puts a limit on the profits, it's like they are setting 'valuation' to people---ALL people.....and the upward momentum (the little we have left) in our American pioneering spirit will wane....the only way to 'equalize' is to pull down.....that would be called a mobster shake down......
I dont know what came first health insurance or the docs wanting more money(dont we all, I'm not free, are you?),,,,I didn't make this system, It was here when I arrived so where did it come from? let's trace it.....to know the future we must see(not just look) at the past.,....

The concept of health insurance was proposed in 1694 by Hugh the Elder Chamberlen from the Peter Chamberlen family. In the late 19th century, "accident insurance" began to be available, which operated much like modern disability insurance.[2][3] This payment model continued until the start of the 20th century in some jurisdictions (like California), where all laws regulating health insurance actually referred to disability insurance.[4] Accident insurance was first offered in the United States by the Franklin Health Assurance Company of Massachusetts. This firm, founded in 1850, offered insurance against injuries arising from railroad and steamboat accidents. Sixty organizations were offering accident insurance in the U.S. by 1866, but the industry consolidated rapidly soon thereafter. While there were earlier experiments, the origins of sickness coverage in the U.S. effectively date from 1890. The first employer-sponsored group disability policy was issued in 1911.[5] Before the development of medical expense insurance, patients were expected to pay all other health care costs out of their own pockets, under what is known as the fee-for-service business model. During the middle to late 20th century, traditional disability insurance evolved into modern health insurance programs. Today, most comprehensive private health insurance programs cover the cost of routine, preventive, and emergency health care procedures, and most prescription drugs, but this was not always the case. Hospital and medical expense policies were introduced during the first half of the 20th century. During the 1920s, individual hospitals began offering services to individuals on a pre-paid basis, eventually leading to the development of Blue Cross organizations.[5] The predecessors of today's Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) originated beginning in 1929, through the 1930s and on during World War II.[6][7]

Contributor By Sara Kirchheimer eHow Contributing Writer Article Rating: (1 Ratings) The first 15 private health insurance companies were chartered in Massachusetts in 1847-48. They did not have long-term success. At the same time, more than 100 benevolent societies operated successful group health mutual insurance in New York City. There were about 700 nationwide.
Industrial Sickness Insurance Around 1900, workers wanted insurance that covered paid sick days and were not as interested in more expensive medical benefit insurance. They purchased industrial "sickness insurance" through employers. Imitating Benevolent Societies Imitating benevolent societies, industrial sickness (sick day) insurance companies raised money from entertainments as well as membership dues and held social events for members. They sold beer. Fewer Than Half In 1908, the average "establishment" (employer) insurance plan had 730 members in workplaces of 1,652 workers, so approximately 44 percent of potentially covered workers were actually covered. A 1909 audit of early life and "sickness" insurance plans showed that fewer than 5 percent had actuarial data. The Baylor Plan The first modern employee group benefit plan was an agreement between Dallas County public school teachers and Baylor Hospital in 1929. The Baylor Plan was organized by a hospital administrator who had previously been a school superintendent. Blue Cross Blue Shield In 1944, the Baylor Plan merged into Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. By that time, more than 3 million Americans were covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield policies.

the unions get a great deal right now with the insurers----they dont want their cushion to change.......they want the 'wealthier' (that could mean anything--who draws the line?) to pay their fair shair of medicare(red herring/podium puck).....so who's 'profits' will pad the pensions/401k etc.......
they talk about insurers rationing?----the government will valuate and ration us....the government IS NOT A PERSON THAT LOVES YOU...and neither are the insurers......no matter what there will ALWAYS be folks who will pay cash for top-notch medical care(not healthcare)-----
you get what you pay for and you get what you deserve-----we are not entitled to anything......
