I received a call today from some 'foreign' person, who did not know how to say 'Schenectady'. It was a poll about elections in this area. The questions ranged from what I thought of Amedore, Kosier, Stratton, Susan Savage, just to name a few. And how likely I was to vote for them and how good of a job I thought they were doing. I was expected to answer with the usual pick of Excellent, Okay or Terrible on the job they were doing. Or if I was Very likely, Probably likely or definately not on voting them in office.

At the end of this survey, I was asked my party affiliation, age, race and then they asked my name and I said "NO". I've received them before. The last one was obviously from the reps, this time you could tell it was the dems.

So it appears they are all fishing!

Why take polls before an election, if at all........the actual election IS THE POLL.......isn't that why we vote....now it seems we are "PRE-VOTING" our vote...this isn't like a resume,American Idol or The Gong Show,,,(it's more like The Newlyweds, you never truely know the other persons thoughts).....things like this really really piss me off and discourage ACTUAL voting.....it's like watching the OJ Simpson trial....tried long before the jury is out and in...... >

It's so the side that does the poll can tell if they're losing and what else they have to pull out of their bag of tricks as promises that they don't plan on following through on once their elected.  They want to know what you want to hear so they can tell you that.  That way, you'll elect them and they'll fall back into the same rut.

If it be the dem's or rep's that need to do a poll before any election, it just proves that they are soooo completely out of touch with the 'people' that they clearly have no business, whatsoever, to run for any office representing the 'people'.

They are running their campaign on 'polls'. Perhaps they should get out and actually 'talk' to the 'people' that they will be a 'public servant' for IF ELECTED!

And we wonder why our 'public servants'/government is so incredibly screwed up! Does anybody know how many people polled actually 'lied' about some information? This I know first hand. And yet these polictical hopefuls rest their entire campaign on polls. For their own personal, party agenda/gain!!!

Not to mention if I was tied up in bumper to bumper traffic to get to work(let's say in albany),,,park my car then ride to my job, just to be greeted by a "pollster"(this is long after actually having to remember and then institute the 10 commandments of roadrage),,,,,what do you think my answers would be...

or...

I have just gotten my cheesy $600.00 'rebate' check and I am off to the mall for some shopping and self indulging(we all like that at times),,,I am greeted by a "pollster" --after stopping at Hooters for a beer,,,,what do you think my answers would be.....

Truely truely truely our "polling system" is perverted.....VOTING HAS BECOME MUNDANE....thanks to the media and those who use it.....

I got a call from George Amedore's crew.  They're looking for help, either on the phones or people to hit the beat.  Their Rotterdam office is in the Capitol Plaza (until it gets ripped down).  I heard there's also one in the big mall up in Amsterdam, that's actually the reason that CN9 was saying that they couldn't CONSOLIDATE all the polling places in Montgomery County right into the mall like they said they wanted to.

(And yes, I used CONSOLIDATE just for you, senders.)

I also got a call from the Amedore group, one of his goals is to lower our taxes.

I got a recorded call  from the Amedore group as well. And may I correct you on one thing there Shadow. ...Cutting taxes wasn't 'one' of Mr.Amedore's goals. it was the 'only' goal. That was really all he said. Not that it's a bad thing...it was just the only thing. I never hear any of them say, 'cut spending', cause let's face it people...we will 'never' be paying less in taxes, but they can keep taxes down by cutting spending. NOW THOSE ARE THE WORDS I WANT TO HEAR.

He can only 'own' the taxes in his "area".....the system just shifts the $$ to be gathered to a different entity's responsibility.....remember----

if P then Q.........the total sum still exists.....

You are right shadow.....there is no such thing as a tax cut/break....if the town cuts taxes that $$ is still needed and we have to go to the county or state to get the needed funds....hence-those taxes go up-we pay those too.....there is only the 'finger in the dam' scenario-----and this my friends is where Rotterdam stands...........WE NEED TO HAVE INFRASTRUCTURE--SEWERS, SIDEWALKS, LIGHTING ETC......we cant wait 5 or 10years......the city waited and look where they are-----Mr. Stratton was blaming the past and so does Mr. Tommasone,,,,,(frankly scarlet )....just get on your damn horse and get to it,,,,move forward NOW...

I just received a phone. She asked which of the following I thought was most important:
1. Revitalizing the economy?
2. Lower taxes?
3. I don't remember. Sorry!
4. Keeping our kids safe?

Then she asked if the election was held today, who would you vote for:
1. Ed Kosiur?
2. George Amedore?

And that was the entire poll. Did anyone else receive this?
