if memory serves me correctly -- it was a Republican supervisor and a Republican town attorney who gave them the go-ahead to keep the fees

Great, I don't care what party gave the go ahead.  I care about who is now going to serve justice and get the residents an answer.  Another Democrat trait, throwing the red herring to get the heat off of them.

Wouldn't you say the AGs office should be involved at this point.  There were two administrations involved with the charade.  Also there potentially could be a significant amount of money owed the Town, about three years worth at a minimum.  The violation of advertising in the bid packett that was overlooked.  A modification to the bid packett with a last minute undercutting of the opposition's rate, subsidized with the ALS money.  Just appears to be out of the control of the resident and should be handled by the AG to prevent any more from being swept under the rug.

Sounds good, and punish all those involved.  I"m still wondering where the audit that was so required that was called for a week prior to the vote is... Also, where is the ALS money now, and where is all the money that was already collected?

Of course I believe the AG should be involved.  But I also believe that our TB shouldn't be rewarding contracts to a company that first had recent IRS problems, and second is suspected and even being investigated for receiving ALS money.  To push this through with 3 council members at a meeting in Rotterdam Junction is dirty.  This current TB will most likely be able to steer clear of any legal fallout from the ALS scam.  But politically they are toast.

May 11, 2011 T.B.Agenda:
189.11 Authorize the Supervisor to negotiate reimbursement of advanced life support fees
billed, collected, and/or received by Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services for the
Town of Rotterdam, or to commence legal action to recover such fees.

         Good Questions Kevin!

Actually, I was talking about the one from the week before the vote back in December, but this is just another example.  Maybe they're taking after the last administration and "studying" what they should do.

We all agree it's a political football.  No one (except Kelly) addresses the issue head on.  There are many votes to be "had" or "lost" depending on your outward position on the topic.  What continues to be true though is that as soon as you stop representing your constituents, You're cooked!  Your last statement, "But politically they are toast." is the irrefutable fact, as it should be.  Bottom line is that bad behavior, or business practices, should/will not be tolerated or rewarded.

You got ripped off in law school too, Ron...

Robbery - FORCIBLE stealing through the use of violence or threats

I don't recall anyone contending that REMS stole the ALS money by forcible means.

You got ripped off when they handed out common sense and decency.

Actually, I was just stating the facts ...   and there is no heat on me or on the Democratic Party itself  --- the current and past town supervisors acted on their own  .. therefore their decisions do not reflect on either political party but on the individuals themselves.

Let's face it DVOR, you met your match with G-Fly!  Regarding the common sense and decency remarks, G-Fly is the only Town resident that exposed the dirt, connected the dots, and spoon fed the electorate to make the correct choice on the Taxing District.  I'm sure the electorate is appreciative of this by virtue of the outcome of the Special Tax District vote.  And G-Fly performed this service without being elected, appointed, paid, or personal gain.  That's the kind of player we like on Team Rotterdam!

Well Kelly is certainly NOT a member of TeamRotterdam --- she has done more to TEAR DOWN this community...    She has done nothing positive or constructive for the community.

Yeah...Tony J had nothing to do with the REMS getting the contract.  Go sell that to somebody else.  It WAS a party decision.  Like I said long ago, both partes were falling all over each other to be the ones to get the REMS organization in their camp.

If the party had anything to do it with it, the problem would have been addressed early in 2010  and without all the "drama" that the Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor created.    An ALS reimbursement contract would have been signed with EVERY ambulance company that responds to calls in the town.   The referendum on the tax district would have been conducted earlier in the year and been much better organized (more than one polling place, more information to the voters, etc.).

I thought I posted this when I obtained it...but I received a private message from a forum member asking for it who couldn't find
it in this thread....and then I remembered that for some reason I had trouble getting it to attach...and just didn't get back to it.

My apologies to those interested.

This is the REMS proposal....
