A CON is necessary in any municipality or county in which an ambulance service operates...both REMS and Mohawk have them. I don't know how
anyone got the idea that an "end run" was in progress....most of the Board Members opposed the tax themselves. The tax was rejected and that
rejection will be honored. The purpose of the resolution was to obtain a contract for ambulance service...AND ALS collection, for which a separate
contract is also necessary. It was tabled to reconfigure the Medical Board so that special interests would not be making these decisions.

Who or what is rotterdam's 'medical board'?

As I posted on the link for the actual town board meeting, it shows in the code as follows:

http://www.ecode360.com/?custId=RO0175 (chater 27)

Quoted Text
A. The membership of said Board consists of the following:

(1) Two members from the Rotterdam Town Board.
(2) Two members from the Rotterdam Police Department.
(3) Two members from the Rotterdam Volunteer Emergency Medical Corps.
(4) Two members from the White Eagle Relief Squad.
(5) Two members from the Fire Department rescue squads as nominated by the Rotterdam Fire Chief's Association.
B. The Supervisor of the Town of Rotterdam and the Health Officer shall be ex officio members.

Obviously, this needs to be updated, as RVEMC and WERS no longer exist, and are now combined under REMS.  Also, I believe there was the idea that Ms. DiLeva was hoping that some town residents would be on this board.

Godlewski was surprised that the matter of a new REMS tax district was tabled without any action taken.

"I was under the impression from discussions I had that the board was going to amend the resolution and pass it today," he said. "They didn't do that and I don't know why."

Then why is Bob God quoted as if he knew nothing about the REMS issue being tabled, and why does Nikki D always claim she is left out of the loop on other issues?

Also, if he was surprised by this action, why did he vote to approve it?

Because Ms. DiLeva and others on the board HAVE been kept out of the loop this and other issues.

With all due respect and recognizing what I post next may be used against me -  the #1 priority to fix at
town hall is  COMMUNICATIONS.

a) if the policy is that all proposed resolutions must be received by the Wednesday before the scheduled
Town Board meeting --- then ALL proposed resolution MUST be submitted by then ... any that arrive late
would have to wait until the next Town Board meeting
b) once all proposed resolutions are received on the Wednesday prior to the Town Board meeting ... the
agenda for the Agenda Meeting should be put together  made available to ALL  Town Board Members by
Friday and posted on the website by Friday afternoon so the public is aware
c) this idea that town board members can't speak to town department heads is ridiculous - drop it --
d) at the Agenda Meeting - the sponsors or persons who drafted the proposed resolutions should be
required to attend so that they are available to answer any questions.
e)  Every town board members should speak freely and openly on the issues at the Agenda meeting -- if
there is a conflict or potential conflict .. put it on the right square out on the table at Agenda meeting ..
don't wait until the official Town Board meeting to "pull something out of your sleeves".    If you need to
scream, cry, shout, argue a point,  whatever --- get it out at the agenda meeting ... then roll up your
collective sleeves and WORK IT OUT.

f) make sure that all resolutions are worded correctly -- triple check to make sure that there are no errors in wording, spelling  etc.   ... this should be done before the agenda for the Agenda meeting is posted .. then
again AT the Agenda meeting ... and again on the Tuesday after the Agenda meeting when the official
agenda for the Town Board meeting is typed up and posted.   The same applies to legal questions -- triple
check  .. as the agenda for the Agenda meeting is drawn .. at the Agenda meeting .. and at least once
more for good measure as the Town Board Meeting is typed up and posted on the Tuesday before the
full board meeting  --- there is NO excuse to suddenly realize at the full board meeting that there are
spelling, typing, factual or wording errors  or some legal question suddenly "popping up".

My grandfather used to tell me - measure twice .. cut once  --- the same applies to drafting resolutions and
setting the agenda for the full town board meetings  ..... PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE and the check your
preparations over again.

What sage advice from a guy who never accomplished anything of any substance in his life. Lots of opinions and expertise though. Knows it all, repeats propaganda perfectly from the party line and now wants to be "the enforcerrrrrrrrrr!"

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Serjeant-at-Arms

read the wiki quote below

"The two houses of the United States Congress have also adopted the Sergeant-at-Arms. In both cases, the sergeants are charged with the maintenance of order on the floor of the chamber (in the House, he may "display" the mace in front of an unruly member as an admonition to behave); they serve with the architect of the Capitol building on the commission that oversees the United States Capitol Police and security for the Congress, and they serve a variety of other functional and ceremonial roles."

(1) now close your eyes
(2) bring your mind to your favorite town board meeting in the last year
(3) add the position above to GrahamBonnet's quote above
(4) enjoy the show

Your resume is thinner than the hair on your pate. I recall people laughing about you when you were in a debate and admitted to not even having a job. You are a perennial quitter and the whole word knows it.

Can someone clarify? It seems to me the resolution on the table was to put town ambulance service and ALS contract "out to bid". I don't recall any part of that saying (as the TU article claims) they were going to overturn the referendum and create the tax district anyway. I know for a fact that BG and FDG don't support it, so I don't really understand why either would put it on the agenda? Did I miss something, or is that article mostly wrong?

Only ambulance service will be put out to bid, not ALS.

You are right about the referendum...it will not be overturned and there has never been any legitimate reason to believe it will be.

You are also right about FDG and BG...both opposed the tax.

The only reason it was on the agenda is because we now have to secure a contract with an ems provider...but as ND stated in the
meeting the other day, the Town code that creates the Medical Board and defines its composition, authority, etc. needs to be updated
to meet current circumstances.

As for ALS, both REMS and Mohawk can secure contracts to bill for ALS service through our paramedics. We've already lost an untold
fortune on either failure to secure the contracts necessary to be collecting those revenues, or failure to remit collected funds to the
Town. I see no reason why we cannot at least secure those contracts immediately, since they would remain unchanged regardless
of which ems provider wins the bidding competition.

Goes to show that you don't know what you are talking about.   When I was in the debate I WAS working ...
I was working in the insurance industry.    At the time that the palm cards were printed - a few months prior -
I was in transition from a sales position with one firm to another firm.

I didn't quit -- I stepped UP into something that has allowed me greater financial freedom.
