First..........good job Sharon!!

Second......Talk 1300 radio this morning mentioned the taxing vote. Vandenburg said that even though he doesn't know the details about the vote, he said that everyone should vote NO!! He said that voting a taxing district for something the private sector can supply, is ridiculous. He said that there are probably a lot of 'scare taxtics' going on and that people shouldn't fall for it. It's all about the taxes.....not the service!

Personally, the rotterdam mohon, voted down vote, might just be the prerequisite for this taxing district vote. FOLKS DO NOT WANT MORE TAXES! imho

I just heard from gadfly.  She said that the turnout this morning appears heavy and that the traffic is backed up near town hall.  The
RPD is onsite and directing traffic.  She reported that REMS has positioned one of their rigs, with emergency lights turned on, on town
property near the entrance to the building.  Unless they are currently providing medical services to someone located at town hall, this
constitutes electioneering.  If this is allowed to persist, Mohawk Ambulance should be invited and allowed to do the same.

Around 11:30 I was almost #400 .. the place was packed, mostly with seniors. Some walkers, women in a wheelchair working there - a LOT of NO votes coming from the elderly, so I was told by people walking out.  They simply didn't want ANOTHER tax when it can be done as effectively, or better and not cost anything unless it's used.

Hopefully the people of Rotterdam will not be penny wise and pound foolish.   REMS is a great community
asset and NO amount of lies and distortions from the anti-REMS crowd will change the minds of the many
folks who support REMS .. and are voting

YES on DECEMBER 14

I heard that seniors are voting NO! They say that they haven't had an increase in their social security in 2 years, taxes are going up, food and gas prices are rising and they don't want another expense/tax.

Most rotterdamians believe that it is the FIRST RESPONDERS that 'save their lives'. Any ambulance can transport them after the emt's stabilize them(if necessary).

Their private insurance, that they already pay for and medicare, that they pay almost $100/month for, pick up all or 95% of the cost.....so it didn't make much sense to folks to pay an unnecessary tax/expense.

I heard that the place was packed but moved along smoothly.

Turnout is still heavy and steady...they were forced to get more ballots as they only had 3,400 and obviously never expected
turnout of this proportion...they fully intended to limit turnout through planned obstacles to this vote and it is obvious that they
mistakenly expected to succeed.
