Rotterdam has to do what is best for Rotterdam .. and in my opinion that is setting up a special
tax district for ambulance service and keeping REMS as the provider.
What Duanesburg and Princetown think on the matter should not be a factor in our decision ...
unless Duanesburg and/or Princetown is planning to dissolve and become a part of Rotterdam.

Well, then I think that before this goes up for a vote, we should know exactly how much of the COSTS that the ambulance company has are associated  with the towns of Princetown and Duanesburg.  We are doing them a favor by extending our service out to their area.  Are THEY paying their fair share, because we definitely are.  If they are not, then when and if they do start to pay the appropriate amount, then it may reduce or remove any necessity for a taxing district in Rotterdam.  Maybe if there's going to be a taxing district, it should be done for the entire service area.  I wonder how many of the people in Princetown and Duanesburg would be willing to pay the additional tax.  Let their government officials bring it up to them, then we can consider how much we should be paying to bring the costs into balance.  It must cost more for a run to the hills of Duanesburg than it does to some of the areas of Rotterdam.

Oh it has plenty to do with rotterdam's rems. Some duansburgians are claiming that their supervisor supports an unnecessary tax paid service for REMS. And princetownians are under the assumption that they are already paying through their taxes for REMS. When in fact in both cases, the service does not have to be paid for through the taxpayers AT ALL!

Could it be that REMS doesn't have enough business to warrant funding and maintaining the ambulances they have and that is why they operate in the red and need the taxpayer to pick up the cost.

REMS is not operating in the red.   The taxpayers are NOT being asked to fund the operating budget but
to fund Capital Expenditures --- the purchase of new ambulances and equipment.

Only because ST gave them $10k/mo to cover their expenses.  How's that overdue gasoline bill doing?

Rems is operating in the red if they can't afford to fund and maintain their equipment. DVOR that would be like telling your bank that you can buy food, pay for the heat and lights, and school and property taxes but don't have enough money to pay the mortgage payment. Either you bring in enough income to pay all your bills and buy new equipment as necessary or you're out of business.

You show me the balance sheets of REMS which prove your allegation that they are operating in the red.    If you make an accusation,  I want you to be able to provide documentation to prove your
accusation.
Since I know that you can't provide that, I will just chalk up your latest post as another in a long string of
lies and mudbombs tossed - by you and your cohort - at REMS.

In your own words, (or close to it) I don't think we've got time to do homework for you, sorry.

Take away the $10k/mo - what's their bottom line look like now?

If you don't have time to do the homework FOR YOURSELF ... and produce the documentation to back up
your accusations .. that is your problem  -- not mine.

If REMS were capable of paying for their salaries, taxes, heat, light, and have money left over to put into a fund for new equipment they wouldn't need a tax district to be formed. By the process of elimination they have admitted that they can't pay for new equipment out of what their income is so they must not have enough money coming in to pay all their expenses and hence they're operating in the red. Pretty simple facts to follow.

Ron...I find it amazing the way you continually extract your foot from your mouth only to beg to have it shoved down your
throat again...

You don't know squat...if you did, you would have examined that last audit report on REMS and you would know that MT et al
are right...REMS continues to operate in the red...that's why the town is unnecessarily bailing them out again....and that's why
you and your tax-loving friends are trying to turn it into a permanent bailout. These are not "accusations", as you so conveniently
call them...these are just more of those inconvenient facts that will continue to interfere with your socialist dreams.

You are the one who did no homework Ron...you didn't even attend the class...and while the others have handed you all of the
answers, you have the nerve to tell them you are not doing THEIR homework? You are a hopelessly lazy flunkie.

Isn't it funny how Mohawk doesn't need a "tax district" (ie. handouts) to operate, with MANY employees and multiple locations/ambulances.  Wonder what they're doing differently - or better.

I have attended every meeting about the tax district including the last one in September.   I am quite
familiar with the facts.
The property owners will have the right to vote yes or no on the tax district -- it has nothing to do with
"loving taxes"  -- it is giving the people the choice.. yes or no ...

Kelly ... that is called a DEMOCRACY ....  I will not print what I think you are because I am too much of a
gentleman.
