I think Joe V is nervous that if the vote fails, he'll need to go get a real job

He's pretty much guaranteed one with Mohawk if he chooses to take it.

Taxing rotterdam residents for a service that doesn't REQUIRE a tax is bizarre!!! This isn't a Mohawk vs REMS thing. This is about taxing the already tax burdened people of rotterdam with an unnecessary tax!! It's about choosing a service/private business that will also dump revenue into the town budget while providing superior ALS/BLS service. It's about bailing out an already proven non-profit ambulance service with a history of fiscal irresponsibility.

IT'S ABOUT SUPERIOR MEDICAL SERVICE THAT WILL NOT COST THE TAXPAYERS OF ROTTERDAM ONE RED CENT!!!!

"I" represented YOU in those statements that you are so selective in quoting...you idiot.

Frankly, I don't care what KR and her crowd think on the issue .. I support REMS and will work to save REMS
and am willing to pay an ambulance tax to keep REMS.  (period -- end of conversation as far as I am
concerned)

I believe that the new tax is necessary.

The support FOR  Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services is greater than the support for
privatizing such a vital service.     Mr. Jasenski laid out the arguments for REMS and even
if the tax district is defeated .. that does NOT mean that REMS will just go away.
We will not let a vital element of our PUBLIC SAFETY program in the town .. be privatized.

Privatization of vital government services has NOT worked -- look at the privatized prisons .. such as the one in Arizona where the inmates escaped earlier this summer and killed an inncent family while they were evading law enforcement.
America had a privatized system of toll roads back in the 1800's .. which were not well
maintained and were quite expensive to use .. the solution == the building of PUBLICLY
owned canals.

If the taxing district is established, it would live on in perpetuity and it has the potential to increase every year! Rotterdam doesn't need another overinflated expense.    And...last I heard...only property owners were going to have the privilege to vote on this matter.   And...as I recall...I heard you state at a TB meeting that you didn't own property...SO SAYING THAT YOU ARE "WILLING TO PAY AN AMBULANCE TAX" has no meaning!  I can understand why you are for it since you won't be paying the tax!

I never stated at a Town Board meeting that I don't own property in the town.

If this issue goes up for a referendum vote REMS will not fair well because the taxpayers of this town have had enough of the local/state/federal governments raising taxes every time they want to create another entitlement program making it harder for the residents to survive and pay their bills. If you are accepting a fee for your services you are a business and should be held to the same standards as any other business.

Here is something for everyone to try............
I have been tallying up ALL of the taxes and fees I pay on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly base. From town tax, county tax, state tax, federal tax, tax/fees on cell phones, cable, internet, utilities, vehicle registration, licenses, soda, shoes, clothes, going out to dinner, gas tax, cigarette tax, liquor tax and the list goes on and on and on!!

WELL........I pay more than 50% on taxes and fees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So don't tell the people of rotterdam how they won't feel the effects of yet ANOTHER tax for an ambulance service that can clearly be privatized!!! The people of rotterdam, just like ALL residents of schenectady county are sick and tired of being nickeled and dimed to death!!!

This should NOT even be put up for a vote!!!! If rotterdam had fiscally responsible leaders, Mohawk would be their ambulance provider!!! If this present democratic rotterdam administration even ALLOWS a vote............VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!!

I DID THE SAME AND IT WAS OVER 60% (I PAY 20K IN PROPERTY TAXES PER YEAR FOR MY PROPERTIES)THEN I ADDED IN WHAT PAYROLL TAXES I CONTRIBUTE FOR MY EMPLOYEES AND IT EQUALED ABOUT 80% SO I WAS PRETTY THRILLED TO KNOW HOW LITTLE I AM ENTITLED TO KEEP.

It's only vital if you're working for the REMS.
