Ms. Lazzari may be a good representative, but let me say, sadly, that the rest of this dysfunctional county legislature has rendered her, and a few others ineffective. I hate to say it folks, but even Ms. Lazzari is not an effective representative for the people. As hard as she may try, the arrogant democratic dictatorship, has rendered every single representative ineffective.

Bumble, I have to take issue with your suggestion that the residents of Schenectady County must replace the entire County Legislature.    Mrs. Lazzari and Mr. Eidens have both exhibited rationality and genuine concern for their constituents.  I would also suggest that Ms. Johnson places her constituents before her party as evidenced by her initial opposition to Kosiur's Laws.  I was somewhat dismayed, however, when she stated to me that she must vote in the best interests of her constituents (in her district) rather than for what is in the best interests of the entire county.  But, to be fair, that is her responsibility as an elected representative.

We must sort the wheat from the chaff.  If you vote for those who are running against the incumbants, you may end up with something worse than what you started with.  Although I am not familiar with Mr. Godlewski and his record on the issues while on the Rotterdam Town Board, I would certainly not support him over the likes of Carolina Lazzari.  She has attended numerous Town of Duanesburg meetings, thereby exhibiting her interest in the views and opinions of the residents who she represents.  You should note that my support is non-partisan as I applaud the actions of Lazzari (R), Eidens (D), and Johnson (D) pertaining to the issue of sex offender residency.

That said, I believe that that Savage, Dagastino, and Kosiur must go!

I'll second all of this.  The person who is sitting in office must think of the people they represent.  If that's a town board member, it's the entire town.  If it's a County official, it's the section of the county that voted them in.  A state official should serve his consituents (from their district), as a federal official should serve their entire district (House) or state (Senate).

With the exception of Ms. Lazzari and the Rotterdam town board majority, I feel that ANYBODY who represents me has not done too well.  I don't really know what Mr. (Hugh) Farley has done lately, Mr. Amedore has not had time to build a record, Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Schumer, as well as Mr. McNulty have not done much lately to write home about.  In fact, is Mrs. Clinton doing anything since she was re-elected and immediately said she's running for the Presidency?

I agree with you Zim, Carolina is good for the county, I'm not too familiar with Eidens and what his stand on the issues other than his stand on the sex offender law. As far as Bob Godlewski goes we in Rotterdam have watched as he objected to just about everything that the Town Board proposed that would move Rotterdam forward and out of the dark ages. I also agree that Savage, Dagastino, and Kosiur have got to go and I hope that the rest of the residents will vote against them too.

It may be their job to represent the folks...but, it is also there job to bring rational thinking with knowledge, wisdom and understanding keeping calm the masses and doing what is honest, truthful and just........

9/11 happened and we are still at war....I'm not so sure for what?

but when we erect that memorial the story will have to be told to our childrens children and their childrens children about the terrorists flying a plane into buildings.....this is a foundation of hate and anger.....is it rational???

I'm not saying dont remember those who died but there are folks that die at the hands of murderers/rapists/house fires/tornados/floods etc.......would that make God the enemy??

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I probably didn't 'post' what I was trying to actually 'say'. My point was that the entire bunch has beome ineffective to govern the people due to the democratic machine that rules not only the city but the county as well.

My point being that even as good a representative Ms. Lazzari is, she also has become ineffective due to the democratic dictatorship. Not by her lack of leadership.

My point also being is how overpowering this democratic machine is.

And I agree that Suzie Savage, Judy Turn Coat and Eddy Kosiur HAVE GOT TO GO.

And it's also a NO VOTE for Mr. Bob no change Godlewski!!!!

I hope I was a bit better on my explaination.

Don't forget Mr. Jasenski voted in favor of this mess also.  Nice to see you rattled Zim......I think we knew what you meant Bumble but I'm glad you clarified.  We need Carolina and more like her.  Leaders, not followers.

I want to observe the governing body at work.  I want to see lively debate, constructive conflict, due diligence, and, where appropriate, compromise.  I don't like policy to be decided behind closed doors with only one party (the majority), excluding the inputs of others.  Don't we deserve to witness the actions of those who we elected and whose salaries we pay in tax dollars?  Transparency, accountability, and effectiveness.

I believe it is the law that states that 'all' meetings are to be 'open' to the public. The only ones that aren't are when they go into an 'executive meeting'. I believe. I think it's posted here somewhere. I'll look around.

But, if you have been to the County Legislature meetings, you will find that there is no "open" discussion that occurs in the public forum.  The debate, if there is any, is done behind closed doors.  The majority party holds frequent caucuses to which the minority members are not permitted.

But if it is NOT an 'executive session', isn't this against the NYS law? I believe it is!

We do not "caucus" in D'burg, our lone democrat on the board works with us on every apect of town business. It would be unfair to not include her, however, I believe caucuses are generally exempt from open meetings law.

Rene, you have some great ideas in D'burg on how to run your government fairly with everyone having a say in how things are done. If only our non-functioning Schdy County Council would take some of your ideas and run Schdy in a fair manor.

We've seen this same thing happen in Rotterdam from time to time. It will be apparent that it is one political party pinned against another. A very unproductive move.

But I was pleasantly surprised to see ALL of the surrounding supervisors come together on this sex offender issue. And it didn't matter what party affiliation they were. They all came together with the best interest of their residents being first and foremost. Now that had to be one of the strangest thing the county legislatures have seen in a long time....if ever. Perhaps the county legislatures now know what the word 'bi-partisan' really means and how it works.

I commend them all for standing up to the big bad democratic dictatorship machine. I would like to see them do this more often.

No preying on MySpace
--Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat

Life, liberty and the right to a MySpace page? Registered sex offender Carl Courtright, of Granite City, thinks his right of free speech has been violated because social networking site MySpace took down his Web page. Please! Courtright can still say whatever he likes. He just can’t do it on MySpace. The Internet is a wonderful communication tool that unfortunately is also a great resource for criminals, including sex offenders.
Taking down the pages of sex offenders is a major step; but there are people who will continue to fi nd ways to use the Internet for their evil intent. The best way to protect children remains for parents to monitor their kids’ use of the Internet.
