Suhrada, in a letter to the editor published in The Daily Gazette, said the town gave the fields to the Challengers after being notifi ed by the Little League it no longer wants to use the fields.
I don't see the issue here. This clearly can not be political, except perhaps for timing....but s.t. was ENDORSED by the cons. And the con leadership had no control over who would win the primary. So political? No. Except for those who try to make it appear that way. God, I swear...any one of these candidates can sneeze and it would become this major political issue! geeezzzeeee!

The way I'm reading it....there is room enough for both the challengers and the rll.So stop the pissin' and moanin' and just make this thing work! Enough already!

GB - would those be available via FOIL?

As far as Little League records being subject to FOIL-  Last I checked the LL wasn't a governmental agency, so NO.

As for the suggestion that just a few little league parents are not happy with the new developments-   You obviously have not spent much time with many little league parents the past few days.  I am one such parent and I have spoken to many of them and I think you will be hearing from them in the very near future!

If there was a letter written to the Town Board saying that we wanted to give up the fields that I personally worked on for the past several years- I want to see it so I can take that up with the league.  If there is no such letter, then shame on you!

You will all try to change this issue into the Rotterdam Little Leaguers don't care for the Challenger kids because your handlers told you that is the way to try to save face.  Rotterdam voters are a little smarter than that I hope!

The issue is this:

Why give fields that have been maintained for decades and played on for decades by Rotterdam Little Leaguers and their families to anyone else without having a single conversation with them about that?  Am I missing something?  If Caprara or Pascarella or anyone else gave up the fields I worked side by side on with dozens of other volunteers over the years without informing me- I want to know.  If it is true- AS I SUSPECT that not a single word was said to the league- then you have put the children of Rotterdam little league in a very bad position for some reason.

I would love to see Papa's questions answered but I also won't hold my breath.

Joe Surhadra aka GB aka MT if we are asking questions let me ask a few>

This plan has been in the works for 5 or 6 months and allegedly it involves reconfiguring fields (used by Rotterdam LL for decades) and also involves the Challengers and RLL working together to figure out a schedule of who will use what fields and when they will be used.

Question 1-  If your plan was to have RLL and the Challengers work together on this "project"- why is it that the first time anyone from RLL heard of this was when they read it in the Gazette?

Question 2-  You have stated that a letter was sent to the town of Rotterdam indicating that RLL no longer wanted to use the Woestina fields.  If such a letter exists, why haven't you produced it.

Question 3-  Has someone informed you that the Rotterdam LL didn't use all three of the fields for three years, as Mr Dickershaid incorrectly stated?

Question 4-  Where is the letter written by a member of the Rotterdam LL advising you that RLL no longer planned on using the fields?  It is my understanding that you are stating publicly that such a letter exists.  You better begin back pedalling and twist your story into "um... someone from the league SAID that "because no such correspondence exists.

Question5-   Why the necessity all of a sudden two weeks before election to advocate so strongly for 100 Challengers from throughout the capital district who have 2 fields to play on and no imminent threat to the property they are on now -while at the same time the property RLL plays on (other than 1 field) is being actively marketed by the owner and was once sold?  Are the 400+ kids there and the 800+ parents all of whom reside in town somehow less deserving of a field?  So much so that you take it upon yourself to misinform Ms Mantello and falsely state to her that RLL hasn't used the fields in 3 years and that the league advised you that they have no use for the fields?

If you do not wish to directly answer all of these questions- you may simply copy and paste the correspondence that you claim exists between the Rotterdam Little League and the Town of Rotterdam indicating that they no longer desire to use the Woestina fields.  I wish you luck finding that document.  If it helps- I could FOIL it for you.

The FOIL idea was more of a question on the Supervisors side, not the Little League's side.

Nice attitude capo12.

If you busted your a** on those fields as much as I did, you would have an attitude too!  I don't care if a letter or e-mail was sent to or sent from a Town Board member.  It has to be turned over if someone FOILS it.

Awww, Capo, which Democratic campaign are you treasurer of? Do you speak for your president? Why didn't you get all indignant when your sign stealer actually sold the real fields you play on? Ohhhhhhhhh...but you know and we all know that if your LL kids need these fields, your LL kids won't be shut out. You will only be shut out of the fields that Drunk Bobby and Uncle Ray sold back in 2003 to Tim Larned with the help of Tommy D. When they become a Super Walmart or something. Instead of working and sharing and cooperating, you want to deny, and try to claim something that isn't yours as yours. Wrong. The land is for all the children to use. Not for you to keep, reserve and use IF and when you might need it again. There will be improvements and expanded use for the whole community there Jim. Stop being political and do what is right for the kids, not just what is right for the democratic party slander machine.

Didn't you parents teach you to share with the less fortunate than you or were you the one bullying the kids who couldn't stand up to you when you were 12? You actually met someone who doesn't listen to threats? Wow, is it a first, Capo?

503(c) status is something that is a terrible thing to throw around. Be a nonprofit or be a political pressure group. Don't be both. Learn to compartmentalize your lives.

Not treasurer of anything and could care less Democrat or Republican.  Not sure who you are suggesting I am, but the only thing I really care about is who is telling the truth!

I read in the Gazette today that not only did the President of Rotterdam LL never send a letter stating that the league had no use for the fields, but he actually informed the Town that he had a plan for the fields and wanted to make improvements.

So what is it?  A letter was sent saying he had no use for the fields or he said he had plans to make improvements?  It really is that simple.  It isn't about playing nice or not sharing.  That really isn't the point.  Especially now that the president of Rotterdam LL wrote a letter to the editor saying that the RLL welcomes back the Challengers to their original home.  I rellay don't expect to hear the answer to any of the questions that were asked because it is becoming more and more obvious what your plan was there.
