Personally, I think the Salvatore persona was invented to be a republican plant ... bring out the stupid in people. I think whoever it is failed, miserably, and is doing no good for either side at this point.

He's definitely a dem, i got the Pm's to prove it!

Really, no one took anyone's fields. There is room on public lands for all of the kids. The fields in the junction were rather underutilized as of late. They will be refurbished and used again, and when the Challengers are not playing there, they will be open to the other leagues and just as importantly- for all the kids in town who may or may not be involved in an organized sport. Furthermore, some of the vacant land there can be improved and made into more playing room should there be more need from Little League or any other organization. John Paulino said the same thing about letting the kids who are not in a league play, and I agreed with that. Two diverse groups should be able to coexist. How hard is this to do for kids? I expect that the leagues will be able to cooperate since the grownups will prevail. Some may think this should be stopped, but I for one do not since there is plenty of room for more playing space should Little League decide they would like to play more often there again.

Do your homework. Visit the park and tell us all if it is being utilized the way it could be. It is a wasting asset that needs to be revitalized and the Challengers have no qualms about going down there and doing that, and driving the extra distance as well.

PS...How do all the political candidates feel about this issue? Are there any who would protest it and reverse it? I am curious.

So let me see if I'm understanding this...

Rotterdam Little League announced that they will no longer be using the baseball fields at Woestina Park. The Challengers currently lease a field behind 5 Corners, and are now going to utilize he fields at Woestina Park that were recently vacated by Little League. And Steve Tommasone and Joe Suhrada are going to this exploit this opportunity for votes as if they were the ones responsible for making it happen.  You've gotta be kidding me.

Suhrada and Tommasone moved heaven and earth to make this happen. > >

Cal and the Democrats are trying to pander to the Seniors.  Suhrada and the Republicans are pandering to parents of kids with disabilities.  Shameless.

Keep on going door to door NNTP.  This election is getting ridiculous.

P.S. Does anybody know how Suhrada or Tommasone had a intricate part in making this happen?  It looks pretty cut and dry to me.

Yeah, the public pays taxes and some of it goes to parks. Do you want to privatize those too, or is there some public interest to having places like sports fields and greenspace in the public domain? If you want none of that then fine. I can't be as idealogically pure as you since there was even a village green during the time of our founding fathers that was in the public realm. I vote for tax funded parks for kids to play in. Shoot me if you must. I am not the knuckledragger you need. Maybe the NNTP can vote to defund the small amount of park space we have. Vote for them then.

I agree with GB.  Public space is something communities should offer.  Politicians who politicize children with disabilities for "allowing" them to use public lands that are otherwise unused is disgraceful.  But,,,this is Rotterdam politics.

Vote NNTP.

I believe it took coordination, work, establishing some sort of a consensus, meetings that took time and energy, and then political capital, because whether you believe it or not, there are actually some pretty powerful people who HATE the idea and want to oppose it. Then wrapping it up so that it cost the taxpayers no more than it cost them before, getting it done so that the kids could play there next year, and working on the next step of planning, drafting a package and submitting in the near future a plan for the Canal Corp. of buying the property from them for a dollar and getting additional lands to expand it in the future as well if other leagues have a need. If it was so easy and "cut and dry," it would have happened a long time ago. Before you shoot your mouth off, call Dickershaid (look in the phone book) and ask him. You might have something less stupid to say. Nobody was exploited. It took until last Friday to get that deal to happen and the wheels began to turn in June. It got announced on the next business day. It is good news for those kids and for all the kids of the community who get locked out of other fields at the schools and what not. Why would it need to be kept a secret? So that some other forces can use their clout to unravel the idea behind closed doors?

Anyhow, it is just my two cents from what I know about it all.
